Government agencies that are using Sharepoint
I work for the county of Riverside for the Dept of Social Services in IT. I'm currently presenting demos to our upper mgmt to show them how MOSS can be used to re-write our Intranet and take advantage of the many features MOSS has to offer.  During my last presentation I was asked what other local government agencies are using MOSS.  Unfortunately, I didn't have an answer.  If you have implemented MOSS at a local government agency, please reply and let me know where and please give me a brief description of how you're using MOSS there.  Thank you.

We did a full Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution for Union Sanitary District, the water treatment agency for Union City, CA.

The solution is built on the MOSS platform, uses KnowledgeLake for image capture and routing and K2 for workflow/BPM.  It includes an enterprise-wide Intranet portal solution, document libraries & taxonomy for myriad business documents, eForms implemented using InfoPath forms server and a comprehensive records management application.

Feel free to contact me if you want additional information...

Thank you.  Any issues with the implementation?  How much training did the end users get?  Has there been a survey sent out to gather the satisfaction level of the end users and their use of their Sharepoint implementation?

The toughtest part about the project overall was that it had a capped budget and we had to VERY tightly manage the effort. Scope creep had to be kept to a minimum for even the most useful enhancements/improvements.  Otherwise, it went very well.

There were 4 training sessions on K2 specifically, for SharePoint Administrators, for the Records Management application and for the general End-User population.  Each one lasted about 4 hours and was duplicated as necessary to accomodate a reasonable number of students at a time.  We also created How-To instructions for the portal.  Overall the adoption went very smoothly.

I believe there was a survey done internally however, I'm not privvy to that information.  I can put you in touch with the IT Director directly if you're interested.

Hi Chris -
I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Los Angeles and we are using MOSS to re-write many of the pages of our intranet, as well as utilizing many of the features available to provide systems redesign for many of our antiquated processes.  There are many concurrent SharePoint applications being developed within our facility, including Policy tracking with Workflow, Reports Requirements tracking, and several applications that will be using Excel Services or BDCs.
Our VA has been using SharePoint for about 3 years, but only recently have we decided to make our Portal home page appear as the default home page for our users (although a single click gets one to the intranet home page).
    Hope this helps.
